Types of digital information & their critical uses
Types of digital information includes all types of information, data and media and the ways it is represented (eg. text, images, videos, audio, coding etc.) and where it is presented (eg. emails, sms, social media, websites, games, etc.) as well as the data form (numbers, charts, graphs, statistics, opinion essays).
How it is used relies heavily on understanding, skill and how to effectively evaluate and use the information presented.
More advanced and specialised skills/understanding may include:
-
- Understand how to use alternatives to copyright (eg. creative commons)
- Consider and implement the ethical and legal requirements around storing and accessing people’s data
- Analyse data (eg. creating data queries & running reports)
- Create and edit video, audio and images
However, these skills are often highly specialised and technical so are likely to be outsourced as required.
